According to inkorr.com: According to the analysis of the Confederation of Employers of Ukraine, the most in-demand universities in 2025 were the National University 'Lviv Polytechnic' and Lviv National University named after Ivan Franko.

Kiev National University of Trade and Economics took third place in terms of the number of new first-year students. Following them are Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and KPI named after Sikorsky. Universities in Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi also had close numbers of applicants.

Analysts note: 'This year 174 thousand first-year students were admitted to 351 universities in Ukraine. Most of the new students (64%) pay for their education from their own funds.'

The list of the most popular universities also includes Vadym Hetman National Economic University, the University of Bio-resources and Nature Management, as well as Lutsk National Technical University.

Decrease in the Number of Students

In 2025, a decrease in the number of first-year students and master's students is observed compared to previous years. For example, compared to 2015, the number of applicants for master's programs has decreased 14 times.

According to statistics, universities have experienced the largest decrease in first-year student enrollments in recent years. Additionally, in 2015, the number of entrants was 20% higher.

It is worth noting that earlier data on popular professions among Ukrainians was published.

Thus, in 2025, Ukrainian universities are recording a decrease in the number of first-year students and master's students compared to previous years, which may indicate changes in the country's education system. These trends raise concerns among educational institutions and may have serious consequences for the future educational process in Ukraine.
