Ukraine Faces Record Assault: Russia Launches 426 Missiles and Drones in a Single Day.
Strike on Ukraine's Critical Infrastructure
According to UATV: On March 24, the Russian military executed a coordinated attack targeting Ukraine's critical infrastructure, employing both drones and missiles. According to reports, the assault involved 426 aerial threats, encompassing a range of missile types and unmanned aerial vehicles. This marks one of the most intense bombardments in recent months, underscoring the ongoing strain on Ukraine's defense systems.
Weapons Used in the Attack
The aerial arsenal deployed included:
- 7 ballistic missiles (Iskander-M and S-400)
- 18 Kh-101 cruise missiles
- 5 Iskander-K cruise missiles
- 4 guided air-launched missiles (Kh-59, Kh-69, and Kh-31)
- 392 attack drones (Shahed, Gerbera, and Italmas types), with roughly 250 being Shahed drones
Ukrainian forces reported neutralizing 390 targets, including 25 missiles and 365 drones. Among the intercepted weapons were:
- 18 Kh-101 cruise missiles
- 5 Iskander-K cruise missiles
- 2 guided air-launched missiles (Kh-59 and Kh-69)
However, 6 missiles and 27 attack drones struck 22 separate locations, with debris from downed drones recorded at 10 additional sites.
This assault followed a previous wave on the night of March 23, when Russia targeted Ukraine with 251 attack drones. Such repeated strikes highlight the escalating threat to the nation's critical infrastructure and civilian safety.
These events reflect an intensification of hostilities in Ukraine, where attacks on critical infrastructure have become a recurring tactic.
The sheer volume of aerial weapons involved demonstrates Russia's reliance on diverse platforms to achieve military objectives. For Ukraine, defending against these barrages remains a top priority, as they pose a significant risk to national stability and the well-being of its population.
