Losses and New Unit Formations

Combat intensity in May reached peak levels, with 7,008 battles recorded during that month alone in 2026. A three-month trend from March through May shows rising losses: 30,000, 31,000, and 33,000 respectively, as noted by Igor Romanenko.
'Russia is assembling a new strike force composed of soldiers from the 57th and 60th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigades, as well as the 55th Naval Infantry Division.' Vladyslav Voloshyn
This situation underscores the relentless nature of hostilities and the growing intensity of a conflict now lasting over a year. With fresh casualty figures and evidence of Russian force buildup, monitoring both sides' next moves is critical, as these developments could reshape battlefield strategies and tactics in the near term. Given the preparation of new shock groups, Ukrainian forces must remain alert for potential fresh offensives and maintain a robust defense of their positions.
