According to UATV: On July 17, 2023, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the consequences of a Russian strike on civilian infrastructure that resulted in deaths and injuries. The attack, one of the largest in recent weeks, involved more than 130 combat drones and 8 missiles launched across Ukrainian territory, causing widespread casualties and destruction.
In Odesa, an overnight missile strike killed two people and wounded five others, including three children. A similar incident unfolded in the Zaporizhzhia region, where an airstrike left two dead and five injured. In Kharkiv Oblast, three people were wounded by shelling, while in Chernihiv Oblast, a woman sustained injuries. The attacks also affected the Kherson, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, underscoring the attack's broad scope.
Security Situation in Ukraine
In Sumy, shelling injured one woman and damaged residential buildings and public infrastructure. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to intercept 5 missiles and 115 drones, reflecting active efforts to protect the country.
“It is crucial that every state institution and everyone involved in negotiations with partners on supporting Ukraine’s defense and resilience be as prompt and effective as possible,” emphasized Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
This assault ranks among the most intense in recent memory and highlights the alarming security situation in Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.
