Lush store closures in Britain
According to The Sun: Today, the major retailer announced the unexpected closure of all its stores in the UK.
The Lush cosmetics chain reported that all its stores in the UK are closed today, and it has also temporarily suspended its website operations.
The large retail chain closed all its stores todayAccording to the retailer, this decision was made to raise awareness about the current conflict in Gaza.
Lush, known for its bath bombs and shower gels, has over 102 locations across the country.
The company is located in popular shopping areas, including Manchester Arndale.
The chain is also represented at major train stations such as Waterloo and Victoria in London.
Customers wishing to shop online are also unable to place orders, as the website of the British retailer states that it is 'closed in solidarity'.
In their statement on the website, the company announced that it is closing its operations for one day.
The store windows will also display messages to raise awareness about the conflict in the region.
The company noted that it is losing a day's income, and the government is not receiving 'a day’s tax revenue from Lush and its customers'.
The stores and online service will reopen tomorrow.
In April, the company reported that its pre-tax losses rose from £28.1 million to £42.6 million in the last financial year.
This decision by Lush is part of their strategy to draw attention to social issues. Closing stores and suspending online sales is a gesture of solidarity with those suffering from the consequences of the conflict. Such steps by the retailer demonstrate that business can play an active role in important societal issues, putting them in the spotlight.
