Russia attacked the ports of Odesa and Pivdennyi: what is the state of logistics in the region.
According to ТСН: The Russian troops are actively attacking the logistical infrastructure of the Odesa region. Recently, the occupiers struck a ballistic blow on the port in Odesa, and this morning they shelled the Pivdennyi port.
Government Statement
The Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction, Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksii Kuleba commented on the situation:
“The enemy is deliberately destroying the logistical infrastructure of Odesa and terrorizing civilians, trying to disrupt communication in southern Ukraine. Despite constant strikes, work continues in the region to eliminate the consequences of mass attacks.”
He also noted that at night the Russians hit the port in Odesa, resulting in the casualty count rising to eight, and around 30 people were injured.
Attack on the Pivdennyi Port
In the morning of December 20, the occupiers struck the Pivdennyi port, resulting in hits on the tanks. Medical, rescue and explosive ordnance disposal services are operating on site.
Logistics and Humanitarian Situation
Kuleba reported that work is underway in the region to ensure logistics after the shelling of the bridge in the vicinity of Maiaky. Residents of the region receive all necessary goods and services thanks to alternative transport routes that maintain connections with other regions.
“For security reasons, we cannot publicly communicate all the details, yet the humanitarian situation in the region remains stable. We are working on this around the clock.”
According to him, all checkpoints are operational, and 'Ukrzaliznytsia' has arranged additional carriages to Chișinău from Odesa and Kyiv.
Situation with Electricity Supply
In the Odesa region, over 37,000 subscribers remain without electricity; however, the population is provided with heat and water.
Safe Situation in the Region
The authorities of the Odesa region emphasize that Russian shelling has not paralyzed Odesa. The safety of the civilian population and the normal operation of transport are ensured. In particular, 'Ukrzaliznytsia' announced the launch of additional carriages to Moldova, tickets for which will go on sale today.
Spokesman for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army Serhii Bratchuk also commented on the information regarding queues at gas stations, assuring that this information is not true. The region is fully supplied with fuel, and logistical processes remain under control.
Currently, the situation in the Odesa region remains tense; however, the local authorities are doing everything possible to maintain normal living conditions for residents. Along with restoring infrastructure, it is also important to ensure humanitarian aid and the active work of all services that help people during this difficult time.
