“A true champion both inside and outside the ring, his determination, passion, and courage will never be forgotten. Our thoughts are with his family, friends, and everyone who cherished him during this tough time. Rest in peace, Ricky. Thank you for the memories.”

Hatton's career lasted from 1997 to 2012, during which he won several world titles.

Recently he announced his intention to return to the ring on December 2 against Aisah Aldaka – thirteen years after a failed comeback against Vyacheslav Senchenko.

After retiring, the boxer faced alcohol and depression issues, but three years ago he managed to get back into sport, holding an exhibition bout with Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera.

Ricky openly spoke about his struggles in the past.

In 2016, he divorced Jennifer Duley, the mother of his daughters Millie and Firn, after eleven years of marriage.

His 24-year-old son Campbell, from a previous marriage, is also a professional boxer.

In 2024, Hatton, along with his longtime girlfriend, 'Coronation Street' star Claire Sweeney, participated in 'Dancing On Ice' and began dating.

However, their relationship did not last long. Claire admitted:

“We are still friends, we were friends, dating, and now we are friends again. All is well.”

In an interview with SunSport, he recently noted:

“It inspires many people that I managed to get myself in shape again at my age. Especially considering all my personal mental health issues.”

Hatton shared his thoughts on the comeback:

“I know which fights I am capable of fighting and which ones are beyond my abilities. And this fight I can have. Don't worry about me.”

“It makes me very proud that I was so loved and that people care when they hear about my return. But I'm not stupid, I know which fights are foolish, and which ones are possible for me.”

Hatton acknowledges that times are changing:

“Celebration cannot last forever,” he said. “It’s important to show young people that hard work and success matter.”
