Ricky Hatton Foundation: how fighters will be saved from depression.
According to The Sun: On the evening of September 14, the legendary boxer Ricky Hatton was found dead in Manchester. This tragic event spurred the creation of a charitable foundation in his honor.
The Ricky Hatton Foundation states on its website that the boxer openly spoke about his mental health issues. One emotional post on Instagram reads:
“The Ricky Hatton Foundation is a non-profit organization aimed at supporting the mental health and well-being of current and former athletes.”
“Ricky inspired millions with his courage, honesty, and kindness. By candidly talking about his own struggles, he reminded us that even the strongest fighters can face challenges.
“We strive to turn this honesty into hope by helping others find support when the fight seems hardest.”
The newly established foundation plans to organize fundraising to provide access to mental health services, community programs, and educational campaigns in sports.
“Together we can ensure that no one fights alone.”
During his impressive career, Ricky achieved 45 victories out of 48 fights and actively advocated for increasing awareness about mental health among boxers, openly sharing his experiences after retiring in 2012.
At Ricky's funeral, held on Friday in Manchester, thousands gathered to pay tribute to their beloved boxer. He is survived by three children: Campbell, Millie, and Firn Grace.
IN ISOLATION YOU ARE NOT ALONE
Every 90 minutes in the UK, a life is lost to suicide.
This issue knows no bounds and affects the lives of people from all walks of life – from the homeless to builders, doctors, reality stars, and footballers.
Suicide is the biggest killer of young people under 35, and it poses a far greater risk than cancer or car accidents.
Men are three times more likely to take their own lives than women.
The topic of mental health is rarely discussed, it remains taboo, and it threatens to continue taking lives until we all start paying attention.
That’s why the 'You Are Not Alone' campaign has been launched.
The aim of the campaign is to share practical advice, raise awareness, and break down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health.
We encourage everyone to ask for help when needed and to listen to others… You are not alone.
