Unfortunately, sad news about the death of Orka Visblat became known at the end of the week.
Getty25-year-old Orka was a star of the Canadian Junior Hockey League.
He belonged to a hockey dynasty that raised four brothers.
Circumstances of the accident
Visblat was involved in a fatal car crash on Sunday in British Columbia.
Orka spent four years in the Western Hockey League, playing for the Calgary Hitmen, and last year signed a contract with the Athens Rock Lobsters. Last season he scored 42 points in 37 games.
This summer Visblat joined the Allen Americans and was preparing to debut in the new ECHL season, which starts next month.
“We are all heartbroken,” said Allen Americans head coach and general manager Steve Martinson.
“Orka was incredibly looking forward to this next step in his career. He was not only a skilled player; his hits always changed the course of the game. I still see his smile as he returned to the bench after one of those big hits. That’s what we will miss the most – his easygoing smile.”

The NHL team Nashville Predators expressed their condolences on social media:
“Nashville Predators are deeply saddened to report the death of Orka Visblat, brother of Ozzy and Ozyz Visblat. The connection, determination, and love of the Visblat family for hockey is felt and inspiring. Our organization stands with Ozzy and Ozyz, their mother Kim, and brothers Ocean and Oceania in grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Visblat family. We will continue to support Ozzy and Ozyz during this unimaginable time and ask to respect the family's privacy at this moment.”
The Visblat family is well known in the hockey community. Orka's younger brother, Ozzy, an NHL player, plays for the Nashville Predators, and his two other brothers, Ocean and Ozyz, also played in WHL and AJHL.
Following the news of his death, the hockey community is filled with tributes.
“In many ways, Orka paved the way for his younger brothers,” said the Western Hockey League in its statement. “Ozzy and Ozyz followed in his footsteps in the WHL and achieved great success, becoming WHL champions. The Visblats made a significant contribution to the Western Hockey League.”The death of Orka Visblat is a great loss for the entire hockey world.
