Sunderland was interested in Shakhtar's goalkeeper: Riznyk explained why he is staying in Ukraine.
Goalkeeper of Donetsk 'Shakhtar' Dmytro Riznyk confirmed the information that the English club 'Sunderland' was interested in him. Despite the rumors, the player stated that he is staying with the team.
Riznyk is satisfied with his position in the Ukrainian champion, reports 'Tribuna'.
What Riznyk said about Shakhtar's prospects
At the start of the new season, Dmytro Riznyk played five matches, in which he conceded only two goals. His confident play earns respect even from opponents, but the goalkeeper prefers to stay out of the spotlight and not discuss the details of working with the new coach Turan.
The Ukrainian national team goalkeeper confirmed that 'Sunderland' was indeed interested in him. However, the 'Shakhtar' player is keen to stay in the 'miners' squad and achieve success in this club.
Particular attention is drawn to the upcoming match against 'Panathinaikos', which will take place in Krakow at the Reyman Stadium. It was there in 2005 that the Greek club eliminated the local 'Wisla' from the Champions League, and fans still remember that drama. Now 'Shakhtar' hopes for their support to rewrite history.
'We came not just as a team of Ukraine - we came as friends of Poland, as those who have already felt the support of Polish fans in the toughest moments. We want to appeal to the 'Wisla' fans: come to the stadium, be our 12th player', — Riznyk said.
Let us remind you, earlier the head coach of 'Shakhtar' Arda Turan named the main danger for the Donetsk team.
Meanwhile, changes will occur in the squad of 'Shakhtar's' competitor — Ruslan Rotan is removing players from 'Polissya' whom he does not plan to work with.
During the interview, the player made it clear that he is staying at 'Shakhtar' and asks for support from fans in the upcoming match. Riznyk also emphasized the importance of the historical first match at home in Krakow and the belief in the team's victory.Read also
