Roman Kemp on travel: how to earn points for purchases and exchange them for vacations.
Roman Kemp became a Marriott Bonvoy ambassador
According to The Sun: Roman Kemp, a well-known podcaster, host, former radio DJ, and now a traveler, decided to travel the world after leaving Capital Radio in 2024. Recently, he earned the title of Marriott Bonvoy Escape Guru, aiming to encourage Brits to use their accrued points for booking holidays.
AlamyThanks to the new program, Roman shared that Nectar points, which can be earned during purchases, can be used for future travels with Marriott Bonvoy.
As an experienced traveler, Roman has visited countries like South Korea and Iceland and even plans a trip to Antarctica. However, with autumn approaching, he emphasizes that no one should underestimate short trips to cities at home.
“Weekend trips are just wonderful, many people think it's hard to do much in two days — but I really love short city trips.
“I adore Madrid, if I didn't live in London, it would be the only other city in Europe where I could see my life.
“People are amazing, the place is very stylish. The restaurants are fantastic, and you can sit and watch flamenco.”
Madrid makes a pleasant impression due to affordable airfares — starting from 21 pounds, and a small beer costs from 2.50 euros (2.16 pounds), Kara Godfrey learned during her visit.
Roman also expressed his sporting preferences, noting that he might visit Barcelona next year when the new stadium construction is completed, and he has plans for a trip to Bruges.
“Arsenal plays against Club Brugge in Bruges, Belgium, at the end of the year. So I plan to spend three days there and watch the match.”

“I also plan to visit Christmas markets, I found information about them, and they look incredible. Another wonderful place with fantastic Christmas markets is Munich. It's an extraordinary city, and not just because of the beer, it's really beautiful.”
Roman shared his favorite destinations over the past few years and interesting ways to explore local culture. He noted:
“I believe Iceland is the best country I have ever seen in terms of natural beauty, it’s incredible.
“I’m a bit of a ‘geographical’ fan, so I’m interested in mountains and volcanoes — I like to learn about them.
“South Korea was so fascinating — the culture there is a bit unusual compared to the West, but it's very similar — and it has a lot of history.”

During his trip to South Korea, Roman even became well-known in a place where he thought no one would recognize him.
“I really wanted to visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) to see North Korea. When you visit the DMZ, you can walk through underground tunnels that the North Koreans dug to reach Seoul.”
“I went to the DMZ and thought: ‘No one will recognize me,’ as only three tourist buses are allowed there every day. I get on the bus, and there’s a group of high school students from the UK. And here we are at the DMZ, and I'm taking pictures with everyone.”

Having lived and worked in London for many years, Roman knows well where to find the best pub and confidently claims he knows where the best beer garden in the city is located.
“It's the Duke of Edinburgh in Brixton — I've spent many wonderful moments there.
“It has the best pub garden, I haven't seen a better one in London, it's incredibly spacious and perfect for summer relaxation.”
