According to The Sun: Mark Williams has reduced his chances of becoming the oldest winner of a ranking tournament, stating that 'Ronnie O'Sullivan will likely break this record'.

The 50-year-old player reached the final of the Grand Prix in Cian, defeating Daniel Wells in the semi-finals and will now face Shaun Murphy on Monday.

Williams has already secured at least £76,000, even if he loses to Murphy. If he wins, his prize will be £177,000.

A victory would allow him to enter history, as he would surpass Ray Reardon, becoming the oldest winner of a major tournament. However, he claims that he is not interested in achieving this record, as he is confident that O'Sullivan will break it again.

“Age? It’s not really a record, is it?”

“Even if I win, Ronnie O'Sullivan or John Higgins will probably beat it within a few months.”

“It's nice to be in the final, and if I manage to win the tournament, that would be wonderful. I'm happy that I can still play like this.”

“If you had offered me a quarter-final before going out, I would have accepted. And the final is just joy beyond measure.”

O'Sullivan also hoped to break the record in China, but lost in the quarter-finals to Gary Wilson 5-2.

Gary Wilson ultimately lost in the semi-finals to Murphy, and now all eyes are on Williams.

Williams defeated Wells 6-3, making a high break of 129. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the high costs of changing his flight home.

He was outraged by British Airways over a £12,000 fee for changing his flight to a different date.

“Nice airline @BritishAirways. £12k to change my flight from tomorrow to Wednesday, time to start flying with another airline.”

“Where do they get these prices?”

The Grand Prix final promises to be tense, and many fans are eagerly awaiting this meeting. Despite all the difficulties that have arisen in Williams' path, his determination continues to inspire. If he can overcome Murphy, it will be a landmark event in his career, which will be duly recognized in the history of snooker.
