Railways and Stores Hit in Russian Strikes Across Ukraine, Causing Fires and Casualties.
Strikes Target Railway Infrastructure and Civilian Sites
According to UATV: Russian forces have launched new attacks on Ukrainian railway infrastructure and civilian facilities, resulting in significant damage, fires, and civilian injuries. On February 12, 2023, a strike in the Konotop district of Sumy Oblast hit railway infrastructure, igniting a depot building and a railcar.
In a separate attack in the Izyum district of Kharkiv Oblast, specifically in Barvinkove, Russian troops struck a store, wounding 13 people. A subsequent strike on the same location caused partial destruction of the store and damaged nearby houses. The resulting fire spread across an area of 1,500 square meters.
Wider Assault Across Ukraine
Overnight, drones and ballistic missiles targeted Kyiv, injuring two people. Beyond the capital, the cities of Odesa, Dnipro, and Pavlohrad also came under attack. These assaults are part of a broader Russian campaign that has intensified since the full-scale invasion began nearly a year ago. The events underscore the persistent threat to civilians and infrastructure across Ukraine.
The aggressive actions by Russian military units indicate a heightened focus on attacking Ukraine's critical infrastructure, with severe consequences for the civilian population. As strikes on rail links and commercial establishments continue, they threaten to significantly disrupt supply chains and endanger the safety of residents in affected regions. The situation in Ukraine remains tense and demands continued international attention to ensure civilian protection and regional stability.
