Russian Strikes Target Kharkiv Region, Damaging Infrastructure and Cutting Power to Major Boiler Plant.
Russian Military Assaults on Kharkiv Region
According to Novyny.live: Russian forces targeted seven settlements in the Kharkiv region over a 24-hour period, damaging civilian infrastructure and power grids. The villages of Dovzhyk, Oskil, Dvorichnyi Kut, and Bulatselevka were among those hit by the shelling.
Specific damage reported includes:
- A cultural center in Dovzhyk,
- Power grids in Oskil,
- A civilian enterprise in Dvorichnyi Kut,
- A recreation base in Bulatselevka.
In a separate attack on February 19, Russian troops also cut off the power supply to the largest boiler plant in the city of Lozova, located in the Kharkiv region. These attacks are part of a broader pattern of strikes on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, which has severely impacted civilian life.
Escalating Violence in Other Regions
On the same day, February 19, Russian strikes in the Zaporizhzhia region wounded a six-year-old child. The previous day, February 18, Russian occupying forces killed a civilian woman in the Sumy region, where a total of 19 civilian casualties were recorded due to shelling.
These events underscore the continuation of hostilities and their severe impact on civilian populations and infrastructure in the targeted regions.
The shelling in Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, and Sumy regions demonstrates a persistent and ongoing threat to civilians and their property. Damage to critical civilian infrastructure, including power grids and other facilities, compounds the hardships for local residents already suffering from the war's consequences. The situation in these frontline areas remains highly volatile, highlighting the urgent need for sustained international attention and humanitarian support.
