Odesa Region Targeted in Overnight Assault
According to UATV: On January 21, Russian drones struck Ukraine's Odesa region, resulting in one man being injured and hospitalized. The attack also ignited fires and caused damage to residential buildings and industrial facilities. This assault is part of a wider pattern of strikes targeting Ukraine's southern regions and port infrastructure.
A warehouse containing furniture was destroyed in the attack. Overnight on January 21, Russia launched a total of one 'Iskander-M' ballistic missile and 97 attack drones against Ukrainian territory. Impacts were recorded at 11 different locations. All fires sparked by the strikes have since been extinguished by emergency services.
Oleh Kiper, head of the regional military administration, provided details on the situation.
Critical Need for Air Defense
This incident is part of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, which began in 2014. It highlights Russia's continued use of drones to strike civilian infrastructure, raising serious concerns for population safety. The war has seen a significant evolution in the use of such unmanned aerial vehicles for long-range attacks.
Attacks on the Odesa region, in particular, underscore the critical importance of robust air defense systems and preparedness for potential new threats.
