In response, authorities have placed 39-year-old Ukrainian national Anastasiia Berezovska on an international wanted list on suspicion of carrying out a terrorist act.
The explosion took place at 8:48 PM as three victims were returning from a restaurant. An unidentified individual left a backpack containing a homemade explosive device in the lobby of a luxury residential building on Rue Révérend-Père-Louis-Frolla. Following the blast, Vadym Yermolayev was transported to a hospital in Marseille, where he has since regained consciousness after being in a coma. According to medical services, Anna Nasobina was taken to a hospital in Nice, where both of her legs were amputated. The 13-year-old child injured in the attack is currently receiving treatment at a children's hospital in Nice.
Investigation into the Attack
On July 2, as part of the investigation, a search was conducted at the residence of the suspect, Anastasiia Berezovska, during which physical evidence was seized. One witness, Morgan Raymond, noted: “This led to the assumption that a woman with medium-length chestnut hair, a sturdy build, and a large tattoo on her right arm could be the same individual.”
The investigation remains ongoing, with law enforcement continuing to gather additional information to clarify all circumstances surrounding the attack. This incident highlights security concerns in upscale neighborhoods and underscores the need for thorough investigations into acts of terrorism. The issuance of an international warrant signals the seriousness of the case and authorities' determination to bring those responsible for this violent crime to justice. Local and international media will closely monitor further developments.
