According to UATV: On March 8th, Russian forces executed a large-scale attack against Ukraine, employing a significant arsenal of aerial weapons. The assault involved the launch of two 'Iskander-M' ballistic missiles from Russia's Rostov and Voronezh regions, alongside 117 attack drones of various models. This attack is part of a sustained pattern of Russian aggression that has targeted Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and energy grids.

A substantial portion of the drone attack, approximately 70 units, consisted of 'Shahed' type loitering munitions. 'Preliminary data as of 09:00 indicates that air defense has shot down/suppressed 98 enemy UAVs of the Shahed, 'Gerbera' and other types in the north, south, and east of the country. Impacts from two ballistic missiles and 19 attack UAVs have been recorded at 11 locations,' stated the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
