Ukrainian media report that 18 North Korean soldiers were detained by Russians when they tried to flee positions in the Kursk region. Reports suggest these servicemen may be involved in assault operations against Ukrainian forces.

According to information, about 40 soldiers from North Korea trained Russian fighters to use balloons in military operations, while Russians trained DPRK representatives in modern infantry combat.

According to the source, after the training, the soldiers from North Korea were left without food and instructions in the forest area of Kursk for several days. Therefore, 18 North Koreans decided to voluntarily leave their positions to find Russian commanders.

However, after two days, they were found and detained by Russians. They were discovered approximately 60 kilometers from their escape point. Currently, all 40 soldiers from North Korea have been relocated to the Lgovsky district of the Kursk region for further involvement in assault actions in Kursk.

Earlier, it was stated that about 11,000 North Korean infantrymen are in the east of Russia and are preparing for participation in combat operations in Ukraine.

A representative of the Third Separate Assault Brigade, Maksym Zhorin, noted that North Korean specialists have been collaborating with Russia for a long Time in the field of military defense and engineering. Thus, the presence of DPRK soldiers in the war against Ukraine is not new. Although their combat qualities may not be of the highest level, their involvement can have a significant impact on the front.
