Russia is attempting to create a foothold for shelling Zaporizhzhia: battles for Stepnohorsk.
Situation in Zaporizhzhia region
According to UATV: Russian troops are trying to create a foothold for shelling Zaporizhzhia, particularly in the Stepnohorsk area, where active fighting is taking place. The spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshin, reported attempts by Russian troops to break into the village of Stepnohorsk in the Zaporizhzhia region. This settlement opens up new opportunities for fire impact on Zaporizhzhia, increasing the strategic importance of this direction.
Active fighting and losses
In addition, active fighting continues in the Oleksandrivsk and Orikhiv directions. Meanwhile, in the Huliaipole direction, Russian occupiers received a large number of thermobaric hand grenades, indicating their intentions to enhance firepower. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has also updated the data on Russian losses at the front, recording:
- nearly 1,000 occupiers,
- more than 240 units of equipment,
- 5 air defense systems.
These events underscore the tension in the region and the ongoing hostilities.
The situation in the Zaporizhzhia region remains extremely tense, as Russian forces attempt to consolidate their positions, which could significantly affect the course of hostilities in the region. With the increasing intensity of the fighting and the use of new types of weapons, including thermobaric grenades, it becomes apparent that both sides are intensifying their efforts in this struggle. This indicates the continuation of the conflict and the possibility of escalation at the front in the near future.
