Russian troops failed to accomplish any strategic tasks this summer: main updates from the front.
According to FREEДOM:
Frontline Situation
As of August 31, from midnight, 77 battles were recorded on the front (data as of 16:00). Russian troops are actively storming the Pokrovsk direction, reports FREEДОМ.
Failure of the Offensive Campaign
Military analysts believe that the spring-summer offensive campaign of Russia has ended in failure. Although the Russian army managed to capture some Ukrainian territories, the main goals were not achieved. The Ukrainian defense forces successfully hold back the enemy's pressure and even carry out counterattacks in some sections of the front.
'When we talk about the goals of this offensive campaign, namely the creation of buffer zones in Sumy and Chernihiv regions, the capture of Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad, and the desire to engage in battles for Konstantynivka, these tasks have certainly not been accomplished. And by the end of summer, which ends tomorrow, September 1, they will not be fulfilled. Thus, the failure of the spring-summer campaign objectives on the part of the Russian Federation is evident,' — noted military analyst Denis Popovych.
However, Russian commanders continue to try to execute Moscow's orders, therefore the tasks of capturing Pokrovsk, Myrnohrad, and Konstantynivka remain relevant, according to experts.
'The occupiers find it difficult to break through to Ukrainian positions in the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration, as this cannot be done without pressure on the Ukrainian political leadership. According to British intelligence, it will take Russian occupiers at least four to five years to capture the entire territory of Donetsk,' — explained military-political analyst Dmytro Snegiryov.
Attacks on Ukrainian Positions
According to the data from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of 16:00, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions 18 times in the Novopavlivsk direction. The enemy attempted to breach the Ukrainian defenses in the Lyman section of the front 13 times.
Further attempts to push out Ukrainian defenders in the Pokrovsk direction continue. This section of the front has become the site of the majority of battles. To create propaganda materials, Russian saboteurs attempted to infiltrate the village of Leontovychy near Pokrovsk and take photos with a tricolor flag, but Ukrainian soldiers quickly halted their photo shoot. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the RF army concentrated its largest efforts in the Pokrovsk direction, suffering significant losses there.
'Throughout the eight months of this year, the Russians have lost more than 290 thousand of their military personnel killed and heavily wounded. The highest losses have been in Donetsk, failing to achieve any of their strategic goals. Stabilization measures are ongoing in certain sections of the front. I thank every unit that ensures the replenishment of the 'exchange fund' for Ukraine, corresponding results are reported weekly,' — stated Volodymyr Zelensky on Telegram.
Overall Losses of the Russian Army
Overall losses of Russian troops since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine exceeded 1 million 82 thousand. Additionally, during the day, the Ukrainian defense forces destroyed two Russian tanks, two armored vehicles, 27 artillery systems, more than 370 drones, and over 80 units of automotive equipment.
Overall, the news provides a detailed overview of the situation on the front in Ukraine, highlighting the failure of the Russian offensive campaign and the active position of the Ukrainian military. It informs about their losses and the enemy's attempts to capture key territories. These events are significant not only for the war but also for negotiations and further political steps.Read also
