Russia Launches New Offensive Phase: Daily Military Losses Reach 1,700 Troops.
Russian Military Operation Intensifies
According to UATV: On March 23, 2023, Russian forces escalated a strategic offensive campaign that has been ongoing since fall 2023. Following a regrouping, the enemy has focused its main efforts on the Pokrovsk and Zaporizhzhia fronts. Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, confirmed that a new phase of Russian offensive operations is indeed now underway.
Over the past several days, Russian troops have suffered heavy casualties, exceeding 8,000 personnel. Daily losses range from 900–1,000 to 1,600–1,700 soldiers. Bratchuk emphasized that the start of this combat phase has become one of the most costly for the Russian army, with losses exceeding three companies of personnel for every square kilometer of territorial gain.
"When it comes to the most active sectors, it is undoubtedly the Pokrovsk direction," said Serhiy Bratchuk.
These latest figures highlight the severity of the situation at the front and indicate that Russian offensive actions are accompanied by significant human tolls.
Frontline Situation Remains Tense
The frontline situation continues to be tense as Russian forces ramp up their offensive operations. Such high casualty rates suggest that, despite numerical superiority, the Russian military faces serious challenges in executing its campaign. This context is crucial for understanding the evolving dynamics of the war, as it may shape both sides' strategies moving forward—particularly how Ukrainian forces adapt their tactics to counter new threats.
