Russian Airstrike Hits Kramatorsk, Damaging Homes and Injuring Civilians.
Aerial Bombardment Strikes Kramatorsk
According to UATV: On February 12, Russian forces carried out an airstrike on the city of Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region. The attack injured two people: an 18-year-old young man and a woman. It also caused extensive material damage, destroying or damaging 11 apartment buildings, 28 cars, a store, and a pharmacy. This strike is part of a wider pattern of attacks on urban centers in eastern Ukraine.
Local residents described the terrifying sounds of the explosions. One Kramatorsk resident recounted:
“I woke up at night to the sound of an explosion. I immediately said to my wife: Lena, an explosion! Then a second explosion.”Another local woman, Anna, recalled a frantic call from her mother:
“Our parents live in that building. They called us at night, around 3:30. My mother was hysterical, ‘Help us get the door open, it’s blocked by debris.’”
Regional Escalation
This was not an isolated incident. As a result of other Russian attacks in the Donetsk region on the same day, one man was killed and five people were wounded. The situation in the region remains tense, with civilians living under constant threat. The ongoing assault on civilian infrastructure highlights the severe humanitarian cost of the war.
Continued attacks on civilian targets across Ukraine underscore the intensification of the conflict. Residents face persistent dangers to their lives and property, making daily existence profoundly difficult. In light of these recent events, the need for sustained international support to protect civilians and rebuild critical infrastructure is more urgent than ever.
