The Russian Federation tried to create an alliance of countries against the West

The Institute for the Study of War reported that the Russian Federation used the celebration of Navy Day to attempt to form an alliance of Asian and Middle Eastern countries against the West.

Navy ships from China, Algeria, and India participated in the naval parade in St. Petersburg. Representatives from 31 countries attended the events, including Azerbaijan, Venezuela, Vietnam, Cuba, Libya, Myanmar, Syria, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and South Africa.

Additionally, instead of the Russian Minister of Defense, Alexander Fomin met with the Commander of the Chinese Navy, Hu Zhongming, to discuss naval cooperation. He also met with the Commander of the Myanmar Navy, Win Htein, to discuss future cooperation with Russia.

The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, met with the Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Muhammad Hasan, in Kuala Lumpur and agreed to expand Russian-Malaysian diplomatic ties.

ISW reported that "Russia has recently strengthened cooperation with countries including Venezuela, Cuba, India, and Vietnam."
