Russia has lost the war: three main goals of Putin have become unattainable

According to ТСН: The full-scale war of Russia against Ukraine has been going on for almost four years. During this time, Russia has failed to achieve three main goals that it set for 2022.

Lost Goals of Russia

Vadym Denysenko, a journalist and former advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs, notes that Russia has lost opportunities for:

  • the formation of a third pole in global politics;

  • establishing total control over the post-Soviet space;

  • slowing down Russia's de-Slavicization process.

“Putin continues the war out of helplessness. He does not want to tell himself: he has lost everything he was betting on,” he noted.

Putin's Attitude towards Ukraine

Earlier, Western countries discussed whether the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin really wants Ukraine's success. U.S. presidential special envoy Keith Kellogg expressed his opinion:

“Putin, as a former KGB officer, will never change. I believe he has his own goal, and what we are trying to achieve in the West does not necessarily align with his plans... I do not think Putin wants Ukraine to succeed at all,” he remarked.

These assessments underline the difficulties Russia faces in the context of the war, as well as show how tenaciously the Kremlin defends its interests despite the costs and defeats. The prospects for further developments remain uncertain, and will depend on many internal and external factors in the coming months.
