The attack, which began at 6:00 PM on January 26, saw Ukrainian air defenses shoot down 135 of the hostile drones by 8:00 AM the following day. Despite this high interception rate, strikes impacted 14 different locations for a total of 24 hits.
Debris from the downed drones was recorded at nine separate sites. A significant incident involved a drone striking a key infrastructure target in the Lviv region on January 27. The city of Odesa also came under heavy attack during the barrage.
Launch Points for the Drone Attack
The drones were launched from several directions, including:
- Kursk
- Oryol
- Bryansk
- Millerovo
- Primorsko-Akhtarsk
- Hvardiiske
- Chauda
This attack underscores Russia's continued reliance on drone warfare, presenting a persistent challenge for air defense systems. The use of drones has become a central feature of the conflict, allowing for long-range strikes on critical infrastructure.
This mass drone assault is part of the ongoing war, where unmanned aerial vehicles play an increasingly critical role. Russia's evolving drone tactics appear aimed at overwhelming Ukrainian air defenses and striking strategic targets deep inside the country.
