Russia has failed to achieve military goals in Ukraine - media.
The Russian denazification of Ukraine has not succeeded
Ukraine continues to be a guarantor of democracy and sovereignty in accordance with the goals set. Ukrainians, inspired by patriotism, actively resist Russia, said American historian and political scientist Alexander Motyl in his article for The Hill.
Motyl emphasizes that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are among the strongest in Europe, as they have managed to hold back the Russian army for three years.
Due to sanctions, the Russian economy has been devastated, and NATO is seriously considering the possibility of including Ukraine in its ranks while expanding to Finland and Sweden. Moreover, the pro-Russian regime in Syria has been defeated, and China has become a dominant force in Russia.
'None of these facts indicate victory. Rather, it is a defeat. But Vladimir Putin continues to insist that everything is going well,' adds Motyl.
Putin may not care whether people believe his lies. He seems, like his Soviet predecessors, only concerned about what words to say to the people, how to speak publicly to support their perceptions, Motyl added.
Putin likely does not realize the true extent of the losses caused by the war. Having created a 'vertical of power' with himself at the top, he has almost certainly fallen victim to his own overly centralized projects.
'If Putin's perception of reality significantly differs from reality, he is bound to make serious errors in his judgments, which could lead to disaster both individually and collectively. Putin's decision to invade Ukraine in 2022 is likely one such case, especially given his hope that the invasion would be a walk in the park,' emphasizes the political scientist.
