Russian Forces Shift Tactics in Southern Ukraine, Escalating Strikes on Rear Areas.
Russian Military Adapts Its Approach
According to UATV: In southern Ukraine, Russian forces have altered their battlefield tactics, significantly increasing aerial assaults on rear-area targets. Occupying troops have boosted their use of guided aerial bombs by 30% and intensified strikes using 'Shahed' drones. According to available data, the employment of loitering munitions, such as the 'Molniya' and 'Lancet,' has risen by 37%. This tactical shift indicates a Russian effort to concentrate attacks not only on the front line but also deep into Ukrainian defensive positions.
Frontline Developments
Combat activity has intensified, with 138 clashes recorded along the front on January 25. On the Pokrovsk axis, Ukrainian defenders successfully repelled 41 separate assault operations by the aggressor. These developments underscore the heightened tensions in southern Ukraine, where Russian troops are attempting to adjust their operations in response to Ukrainian military actions. This region remains a critical focal point in the ongoing conflict.
Vladyslav Voloshyn noted that the change in Russian tactics suggests they are now paying greater attention to striking rear-area objects, which may signal a strategic shift in their approach to warfare.
The adaptation in Russian tactics likely reflects an attempt to counter the current frontline situation, particularly given the increasing activity of Ukrainian forces. The escalation of airstrikes on logistical and support targets appears aimed at degrading Ukraine's resource potential, which could, in turn, impact the Ukrainian military's capacity to conduct effective operations at the front. The situation in the country's south remains volatile and is being closely monitored by both sides.
