Russia Intensifies Assault on Pokrovsk Axis: Can It Cut Off Ukrainian Supply Lines?.
Frontline Update
According to UATV: As of early June 2023, Russian forces have concentrated their main efforts on the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk fronts, where fierce battles are raging for the villages of Rodynske and Hryshyne near Pokrovsk. The aggressor's primary objective is to sever the logistics routes of Ukraine's Defense Forces. In a statement on June 2, 2023, Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, highlighted the situation, noting that a significant enemy force has amassed in this area.
On the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 56 assault attempts by the enemy on June 1 alone. This demonstrates the active defense posture of Ukrainian troops as they strive to contain Russian offensive operations in the region. For years, Donetsk Oblast has remained a priority target for the Russian military, and the situation there continues to be highly volatile.
“We know that today there is a very large gray zone here. A fairly large enemy contingent has gathered in this area.”
— Serhiy Bratchuk
Bratchuk also noted that regarding the north-southeast direction, the enemy's attempts are focused on keeping Ukrainian forces under constant pressure.
Key Combat Zones
It is worth noting that the main areas of combat operations remain Kostiantynivka, Pokrovsk, Huliaipole, and Dobropillia. Fighting continues in these regions, with the situation constantly evolving. The villages at the epicenter of the conflict include:
- Rodynske
- Hryshyne
- Dorozhnie
- Novooleksandrivka
- Pokrovsk
- Kotlyne
- Molodetske
- Udachne
- Muravka
- Orikhovo
- Novyi Donbas
- Shevchenko
- Bilytske
- Serhiivka
Given the current situation, Ukraine's Defense Forces continue to take all necessary measures to protect their positions and hold back the enemy's advance.
The frontline remains tense as Russian troops attempt to focus their efforts on strategic axes like Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka. The active defense by Ukrainian forces, which has proven effective in halting enemy assaults, underscores the high level of readiness and resilience of the Ukrainian military. The unpredictable nature of combat in these areas demands constant vigilance and adaptation from Ukrainian command.
