Russians breach defenses in the Serebryansk forestry: a threat to Siversk and Sloviansk.
Russian activity in the Serebryansk forest on the Lyman front in the Donetsk region
According to FREEДOM: In recent days, Russian occupiers have demonstrated minor tactical successes in several sections of the forestry. The units of the 164th and 169th separate motorized rifle brigades of the Russian Armed Forces continue their advance in the Serebryansk forestry towards the convergence of the Black Horse and the Siversky Donets (towards the village of Dronivka), complicating the position of our troops, who continue to defend themselves in the east, along the banks of the Siversky Donets, even to the east of Serebryanka.
The most difficult situation has developed in the forest on the northern bank of the Siversky Donets from the settlement of Hryhorivka to Dronivka. Also, the Russians are pressing towards Yampil.
'That is why they are trying to make a significant bypass, but fortunately, our Lyman operational direction is one of the most resilient in terms of defense capability,' believes Zhdanov.
Over the past 24 hours, since August 25, Russian invaders have attacked Ukrainian positions near the settlements of Novomykhailivka, Hrekivka, Kolodiazy, Novoselivka, Zeleny Dolyna and towards Yampil and Serebryanka 28 times.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are conducting heavy defensive battles against the superior forces of the Russians, repelling their assaults and, when possible, conducting active counter-offensive actions.
Western intelligence reports a shift in the focus of military actions to the west — that is, towards Siversk. Indeed, Siversk will become the arena of the heaviest battles in the coming weeks.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi recently reported increased pressure from the enemy in the northern part of Donbas and the Lyman direction.
According to the information from the General Staff, in the Lyman direction over the past days, Russian invaders have attacked Ukrainian positions near settlements 28 times, creating challenging conditions for Ukrainian defenders in the Serebryansk forestry.
The importance of the Lyman direction in the overall system of the Russian offensive. The activation of the Russians to the north poses a threat to the eastern flank of the Sloviansk-Kramatorsk agglomeration. Siversk is located in a critically important position, and its loss could complicate the defense of the entire region.
Also, I would note that Sloviansk, which the occupiers are trying to approach, has significant symbolic meaning for Putin. Since Russia has 'lost' this settlement once before, when the Ukrainian army expelled the occupiers during the hostilities in 2014. This blow was quite painful for the Kremlin. In addition to the ideological component, Sloviansk has significant military importance — it is one of the key areas of fortified Ukrainian defense.
According to military expert Oleg Zhdanov, the enemy is moving along the administrative border of the Donetsk region, trying to bypass Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in the process. The enemy understands that he cannot take these cities, even if he levels them to the ground.
'That is why they are trying to make a significant bypass, but fortunately, we have the Lyman operational direction — one of the most resilient in terms of defense capability,' believes Zhdanov.
Currently, the occupiers have effectively 'crashed' into the defense line. Even if the Russians achieve tactical successes, they will not be able to strategically capture the agglomeration due to strong defenses and the complexity of storming industrial centers.
Moreover, the situation at the front is influenced not only by military but also by political factors. International pressure on the Russian Federation has already played its role in slowing the pace of the Russian offensive. Successful actions by the Armed Forces in key areas have prevented the implementation of the political component of the Russian offensive — the creation of 'buffer zones' up to 20 kilometers deep.

Russian occupiers continue their advance in the Serebryansk forestry, complicating the defense of the Ukrainian troops. The situation in the forest on the northern bank of the Siversky Donets and attacks on settlements are raising the tension in the area. Occupiers are trying to bypass key cities, but our army's resistance is still quite resilient.
