‘Shahed’ Drone Strikes Across Ukraine

According to UATV: Russian forces are now using ‘Shahed’ drones to drop mines on Ukrainian territory every day. According to Serhii ‘Flash’ Beskrestnov, an advisor to Ukraine’s Minister of Defense, each drone releases eight mines. These mines are stored in circular containers mounted beneath the drone’s wings.

Military Tactics and Their Impact

This use of drones for mine-dropping is a deliberate part of the adversary’s military strategy. Documented cases show these attacks occur regularly, causing damage to both military and civilian targets. It is crucial to note that such actions can lead to significant civilian casualties and worsen the humanitarian situation in the affected regions. The ‘Shahed’ drone, originally designed as a loitering munition, has been adapted for this new role.

The rising frequency of these assaults underscores the urgent need for Ukraine’s forces to strengthen their defenses, as well as for continued international support to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.
