Russian Canoeist Removed from the International Canoe Federation Committee
The Secretary General of the All-Russian Kayak and Canoe Federation, Elena Iskhakova, emphasized that she was removed from the ICF committee for dragon boat paddling. According to her, she was appointed to this committee, but was temporarily removed.
Iskhakova was first elected to the committee in 2022, but later the ICF imposed sanctions against Russian paddlers due to Russian aggression against Ukraine. This led to her removal.
She also heads the technical committee for dragon boat paddling in the European Canoe Association, but she was also removed in March 2022.
Ukraine has appealed to the President of the International Association of World Games to maintain the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2025 World Games. The letter emphasizes that Russian aggression continues, and Ukraine urges the continuation of sanctions against Russia and Belarus until the end of aggression and the restoration of peace.
Ukrainian representatives reminded of the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2022 World Games and urge to maintain this ban for future competitions.
Ukraine hopes for further support and solidarity from the International Association of World Games with Ukraine.
