According to Novyny.live: A large-scale Russian drone attack struck the city of Odesa on February 9, resulting in one fatality, two injuries, and extensive damage to civilian infrastructure. The assault, part of the ongoing war in Ukraine, caused significant destruction, with one drone hitting the roof of a 24-story residential building.
The attack damaged at least six passenger vehicles and also hit:
- A pole sports and acrobatics studio
- A large shopping mall
A gas pipeline was ruptured by an explosion, igniting a fire at the scene and escalating the danger for local residents.
Accounts from Those Affected
Olga Biloborodko, a victim: 'The facade windows are almost completely destroyed, and the equipment is damaged. We will have to rebuild everything from scratch.'
Andriy, a resident: 'It's not just a car. I needed it for work. But the main thing is that my family is alive.'
This incident underscores the conflict's intensification in the region and its severe impact on non-combatants. Local authorities are investigating and providing aid to the victims. Such strikes highlight the continued escalation of violence in Ukraine, which directly endangers ordinary citizens. These attacks inflict not only physical destruction but also impose a heavy psychological burden on survivors forced to rebuild after tragedy, making official response and victim support critically important.
