Russia sold the Yalta port to Rotenberg's company: what they plan to do with the facility.
Leading news from Crimea! The Yalta seaport, located on the Black Sea, has found a new owner. This area is planned to be transformed into a luxurious yacht marina.
The channel reported that the company LLC 'Black Sea Development', controlled by the investment fund 'Engage', purchased the port for 1.49 billion rubles. The ultimate owner of the company is Arkady Rotenberg, a close associate of Putin and a figure subject to international sanctions.
Interestingly, after the annexation of Crimea by Russia in 2014, all property transactions in the occupied territory are illegal under Ukrainian law.
The port area will most likely undergo reforms and will appear in a new form as an elite marina club for yacht leisure. However, such a move leaves no chance for the territory to be returned to its rightful owners.
