Russian swimmers will miss the European Short Course Swimming Championships in Poland
According to inkorr.com: Due to political circumstances, Russian athletes will not be able to participate in the European Swimming Championships, which will be held in Poland. The head of the Russian Swimming Federation, Dmitry Mazepin, stated:
“For political reasons, we will not go to Poland, we will go to Paris”.
European Championships
The European Short Course Swimming Championships is scheduled to take place in Lublin from December 2 to 7, 2025. In addition, the European Championships in water sports will be held in Paris from July 31 to August 16, 2026.
“The Council of the International Ski Federation has decided to prohibit Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in Olympic qualifying competitions”, - reported by the FIS press service. The International Olympic Committee has allowed Russians and Belarusians to participate in the qualifications, however, each international federation decides this issue independently.
It also became known that Russian speed skater Daniil Naidenishev has subscribed to the social network of the Russian occupier Mikhail Lebedev on Instagram, which caused outrage on social media.
The participation of Russian athletes in international competitions constantly raises controversies in the sports community, considering geopolitical conflicts and political decisions of sports organizations. This issue leaves many questions and will continue to be discussed, as politics and sports often intertwine in the modern world.
