According to FREEДOM:
Shootout between Russian soldiers
In the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region, Russian soldiers engaged in a shootout between two of their units. This was reported by the partisan movement 'Atesh', conveying information for FREEДOM.
Circumstances of the incident
The conflict occurred on August 19 between the 127th reconnaissance brigade and the 24th motorized rifle regiment of the Russian army.
'It all started when the soldiers of the 24th regiment opened fire on the positions of the 127th brigade. The latter, in turn, took them for a Ukrainian sabotage-assault group and called up a reserve unit. As a result, a chaotic shooting battle broke out,' Atesh reported.
As a result of the shooting, 21 Russian occupiers were killed, and another 17 were wounded.
'After the incident, inspections began in the units, control was tightened, and personnel interrogations were conducted. The atmosphere inside the occupying units became even more tense: distrust is growing, soldiers suspect each other of provocations, and commanders fear new conflicts,' Atesh reported.
Consequences for the Russian army
These events indicate instability and tension in Russian military units amid active hostilities. The current situation creates preconditions for internal conflicts and growing distrust among servicemen, which may affect their combat capability.
