Russian EW blinding Ukrainian FPV drones: why this is a threat to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to ТСН: Russian troops are trying to focus their efforts on suppressing Ukrainian FPV drone video channels. This is a strategically important but at the same time risky step for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sergey "Flash" Beskrestnov, an expert in radio technology, reported this in Telegram, commenting on the destruction of another enemy complex.
Destruction of the "Silok" ("Shchora") complex
The expert noted that pilots from one of the Ukrainian units successfully detected and destroyed the Russian electronic warfare complex "Silok," also known as "Shchora." Despite the occupiers' attempts to disguise their equipment, the specific design of the system became its vulnerable point.
"It has several log-periodic long antennas that are difficult to hide,"
— emphasized Beskrestnov.
Change of strategy for enemy EW
Analyzing the actions of Russian systems, the expert pointed out a change in the enemy's priorities. Today, Russian front-line EW focuses not on disrupting the connection between the operator and the drone, but on blocking the video signal transmitted by the FPV drone.
The specialist emphasized that this approach of the enemy is "100% correct" from the point of view of countering UAVs:
Objective: blind the drone operator just before the strike.
Scale: the entire front is now "literally packed" with Russian "Shchora."
This tactic of the occupiers significantly complicates the work of Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance units and strike drones: the loss of visual contact makes accurate targeting impossible, even if the control of the apparatus remains under control.
Recall that Russia continues to improve the drones it uses to attack Ukrainian territory. In addition to increasing the power of the explosives, the enemy is also introducing new technologies.
The situation at the front remains tense. The efforts of the Russian military to destroy Ukrainian drones indicate the seriousness of the threats faced by Ukrainian forces. At the same time, Ukrainian units continue to improve their strategies to adapt to the changing circumstances. This indicates the ongoing development of technologies and tactics on both sides in the modern conflict.
