Russian strike on Poltava: damage to the UOC church and infrastructure.
According to inkorr.com: As a result of a powerful Russian strike on Poltava, which occurred on the night of Friday, October 3, the St. Nicholas Church of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (UOC) was damaged. This was reported by 'Glavkom', citing the church's rector, Father Oleksandr Dediukhyn.
As a result of the night attack, half of the windows in the church were shattered. Fortunately, there is no information about casualties. The rector noted that the parishioners remain optimistic: 'We continue to rejoice in Jesus Christ. We will repair everything, but for now, we will cover it with film,' added Father Oleksandr Dediukhyn.
Attack on Poltava and the situation in the region
The attack on the church was part of a larger strike on the Poltava region, where energy infrastructure and industrial enterprises were also affected.
On the night of October 3, the Poltava region was attacked by Russian troops using cruise missiles and drones. During the aftermath response, the State Emergency Service rescuers came under repeated missile fire. Fortunately, none of them were injured in this incident.
Thus, the Russian strike on Poltava caused damage not only to the church but also to the energy infrastructure and enterprises in the region. However, the rector and parishioners of the St. Nicholas Church remain optimistic and are ready for restoration. The State Emergency Service rescuers, who found themselves under repeated missile fire, managed to avoid casualties.
