The Embezzlement of 25 Million UAH for Military Electricity: Police Uncover Scheme.
Uncovering the Scheme of Embezzlement for the Needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: The National Police of Ukraine uncovered a financial fraud that resulted in the theft of 25 million UAH intended for electricity for the Armed Forces. According to law enforcement information, a former head of housing and utility services in two regions and a director of a commercial enterprise are involved in this crime. They fraudulently seized state funds by inflating electricity prices.
'The official entered into a series of contracts with a controlled company for the supply of electricity for military units. Later, the terms of the contracts were changed without objective grounds - the price of the resource was artificially inflated under the pretext of so-called 'market fluctuations'. Thus, the organizers of the scheme illegally seized 25 million UAH, allocated for the army's needs,' the police reported.
Law enforcement has gathered sufficient evidence and has already notified the former head of housing and utility services and the enterprise director of suspicion. Their actions are qualified under Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (embezzlement or misappropriation of property in large amounts) and Article 425 (negligent attitude to military service).
Currently, the issue of preventive measures is being considered. For the mentioned crimes, they could face penalties of up to 12 years in prison, as well as confiscation of property. The investigation is being conducted by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector.
Thanks to the efforts of law enforcement, it has been revealed that criminals artificially inflated electricity prices, leading to the illegal seizure of 25 million UAH. A criminal case has already been initiated and is currently under review by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the defense sector.
This case highlights the importance of monitoring budget expenditures, especially in the military sector. With the growing needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to various challenges, such situations become particularly critical and require urgent response from law enforcement agencies.
