Russia plans to transport its military equipment from Syria to Libya

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Russia plans to transfer its military equipment from Syria to Libya.

According to the obtained data, the Russians are expecting their military ships at the naval base in the city of Tartus, Syria, for the transport of military equipment and weapons.

On board one of the ships is the commander of the 121st brigade of landing ships of Russia, Captain 1st Rank Davityan Yuri Albertovich.

According to intelligence information, large landing ships of Russia 'Ivan Gren' and 'Alexander Otrakovsky' are expected to arrive in Syria on January 5, 2025, together with the cargo ship Sparta. Currently, these ships are in transit to Tartus in the Mediterranean Sea.

According to the received information, two more Russian ships are scheduled to arrive in Tartus on January 8, 2025: the universal cargo ship Sparta II and the tanker 'Ivan Skobeleva', which intend to cross the Gibraltar Strait. The ships Sparta and Sparta II will be used to transport military equipment and weapons from Syria to Libya.

It is also noted that the frigate 'Admiral Golovko' will carry out refueling. In addition, in Russia, armored personnel carriers were unloaded at one of the airfields in the Vladimir region, which were likely removed from Syria.

Recall that Russia previously evacuated about 400 military personnel from Damascus in cooperation with the rebels opposing the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

It is also worth noting that the Russian Federation is trying to reach an agreement with the new leadership of Syria to maintain its bases in the port of Tartus and at the Khmeimim airbase.
