AlamyDifficulties ahead of crucial matches
In the coming days, the team faces tough matches: on Saturday Manchester United will host Burnley, and then they will face Manchester City and Chelsea after the international break.
Additionally, some players who have been sidelined by the coach are trying to understand if they have a chance to return to the squad.
Amorim is also contemplating the goalkeeper position: choosing between Andre Onana or Altay Bayındır – both have made mistakes this season.
Coach's quotes
After the loss to Grimsby, Amorim openly expressed that some players had 'loudly voiced' about changes.
“Something needs to change, and you can't change all 22 players again. It's hard to manage everything. We move on to the next match, and then we will have time for decisions,”
the coach said after the game.
Owner Jim Ratcliffe and CEO Omar Berrada did not attend the match; only director of football Jason Wilcox was present.
Controversies surrounding players
Some players who were left out are wondering if they still have a chance to return. Five of them – Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia – have been sidelined and are training separately.
Rashford has already moved to Barcelona on loan, Garnacho may join Chelsea, and others are contemplating moving before the transfer window closes.
