Romanians are looking for a Russian drone that might have entered their territory during the attack on Ukraine.
Operators of Russian drones on the night of September 27 approached the Ukrainian border with Romania in the area of Kiliya on the Danube. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Romania. After detecting drones approaching the airspace of Ukraine near the border with Romania, the National Military Command Center informed the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. For monitoring the situation, two Romanian and two Spanish F-16 and F-18 fighters conducted flights from air bases 86 and 57. Radar data showed that one drone briefly crossed the Romanian border. However, the Ministry of Defense of Romania could not find any traces of the drone on its territory. The Ministry of Defense of Romania condemned these attacks by Russia on Ukrainian civilian objects and infrastructure, which violate international law.
Earlier, debris from a "Shahed" strike drone was found in Romania opposite the Ukrainian city of Izmail. This message came from the Ministry of Defense of Romania, which examined the territory to look for traces of drones. Earlier, Ukraine asked Romania to shoot down Russian drones flying into its territory during Russian attacks.
Romania decided to accelerate the purchase of ammunition in response to Russia's prolonged aggression against Ukraine. This decision was made by the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) chaired by President Klaus Iohannis.
