Romania raises minimum wage in 2026: what will the salary be
According to Novyny.live: In Romania, starting from January 1, 2026, the minimum wage will be 4,050 lei, and from July 1, it will increase to 4,325 lei. This increase is part of a new European mechanism for determining minimum wages, aimed at improving the financial situation of low-income workers.
The net income of workers receiving minimum wage in the first half of 2026 will be approximately 2,574 lei. After the increase takes effect in July, this figure will rise to around 2,699 lei. This is an important step towards improving the living standards of the population in the country.
Changes in minimum wage in Romania
For comparison, the minimum wage in Romania has changed in the following way over the past few years:
- 2022: 2,550 lei
- 2023: 3,300 lei
- 2024: 3,700 lei
- 2025: 4,050 lei
These changes indicate a gradual, yet stable increase in the minimum wage, corresponding to new economic realities and labor market needs.
The increase in minimum wage in Romania is part of a broader European strategy aimed at ensuring fair working conditions and improving social protection.
