On August 29, a draw for the general stage of the Champions League took place in Monaco, where Donetsk "Shakhtar" learned about their future opponents.

The total number of tournament participants increased to 36 clubs this season.

The clubs were divided into four pots, considering their club rating at the beginning of the season. The draw was conducted using a special computer program.

It is worth noting that the tournament format will change from the 2024/25 season: the number of participants will increase to 36, and a general table will be used instead of the group stage. Each club will play at least 8 matches with different opponents.
