Higher Tax Social Benefit for Single Mothers in Ukraine in 2026
According to Novyny.live: Starting in 2026, single mothers in Ukraine will receive an increased tax social benefit of 2,496 hryvnias per child under 18, provided certain conditions are met. This measure is designed to assist families raising children in challenging social circumstances, reflecting ongoing efforts to bolster support for vulnerable groups.
Eligibility for this enhanced benefit extends to:
- single mothers,
- widows,
- widowers,
- guardians and caregivers.
To qualify, the applicant's monthly income must not exceed 4,660 hryvnias. For single parents, this income cap is multiplied by the number of children, enabling support for each child individually.
It is worth noting that the general tax social benefit for 2026 will be set at 50% of the subsistence minimum for an able-bodied person, which amounts to 1,664 hryvnias per month. Additionally, as of 2026, the subsistence minimum for children under 6 will be 2,817 hryvnias, and for children aged 6 to 18, it will be 3,512 hryvnias.
Guarantees and Financial Support
Beyond the increased benefit, single mothers will also receive labor law guarantees, a tax discount, and priority access to housing. Furthermore, Ukraine has allocated financial support for children with disabilities in subgroup A, totaling 6,500 hryvnias for 9,000 children. These initiatives aim to enhance social protection for families with children, particularly those facing difficult life circumstances.
The introduction of this higher tax social benefit for single mothers in Ukraine represents a significant step forward in improving social safety nets for vulnerable populations. This reform underscores the government's commitment to supporting families dealing with economic hardship, which could positively impact the well-being of children in these households. The changes also highlight a growing focus on the rights and needs of single parents and guardians, offering them greater stability amid contemporary challenges.
