Sanctions against countries that support Russia must be strengthened, as they sponsor the war against Ukraine.

Russian journalist Ruslan Suleymanov pointed this out during a broadcast on the FREEДOM channel.

'Unfortunately, the sanctions do not have the expected effect. Russia has been living under sanctions for two and a half years, but its economy is not collapsing due to cooperation with other countries that support it. Militarily, the Russian Federation also continues to cooperate with Iran and North Korea,' he explained.

Suleymanov pointed out that we need to fight against these countries that promote the double export of goods.

'For example, China and Turkey supply technologies that are used for military purposes. Therefore, there needs to be strict sanctions against the countries that support the Putin regime,' the expert said.

He noted that Brussels plans to introduce new sanctions against Russia, which may concern three shipping companies that deliver military goods from Iran, as well as Russia's national maritime carrier. However, Suleymanov believes that sanctions against Russia and Iran should be separate.

'Different sanction packages should be in place for different countries with various economies and partners. But secondary sanctions work better. For instance, Turkey banned operations with Russian banks since the beginning of this year due to restrictions imposed by US President Joe Biden,' the expert believes.

Suleymanov noted that Russia is not economically isolated, as it has relations with Europe, China, and Arab countries.

'If these countries feel threatened, they can pressure Russia. The same applies to Iran. But currently, there are not enough restrictions to stop business with Russia's and Iran's partners,' the expert claims.
