Scottish player Mitchell Lurie won his first title at the WDF World Darts Championship at the Welsh Open last weekend.
Mitchell Lurie won his first WDF title in Wales, and he is already being predicted for great achievements. This incredible success came at the same age when stars Littler and Kai Baisal won titles.
Littler, who celebrated his 18th birthday in January, became famous for winning the Irish Open in Killarney in 2021.
Last year, Baisal, who had only been playing seriously for a year and a half, exceeded expectations when he won the Budapest Classic just 13 days before Littler claimed his title.
The calm Lurie, who already has numerous trophies and medals, mentioned in an interview with STV Sport:
'I started playing a lot during the lockdown when I joined the online league. I was doing it for almost six or seven hours a day because during the lockdown, there was really nothing else to do.'
'Then I stopped a bit, but when I moved, I started playing again and realized how good I was, and began participating in competitions.'
'I often train for about two to two and a half hours a day, sometimes more, but that’s my routine.'
When asked about his medals and awards, he replied:
'Honestly, I don't know how many I have, there are already too many to count.'
'But one trophy definitely stands out – the singles trophy at the European Youth Cup.'
'Those who won it include Michael van Gerwen and Stephen Bunting when they were youth players.'
The young dart player breezed through the early rounds, defeating veteran Darren Johnson 6–1 in a sensational final to claim the title.
