Seoul suffers from the strongest snowfall in the last century.

The strongest snowfall in recorded history hit Seoul, the capital of South Korea. According to meteorological agency data, 16.5 cm of snow fell in the city on the morning of November 27, exceeding the previous record set in 1972 of 12.4 cm.

The snowfall began on Tuesday evening and was the first of the winter season of 2024. According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, this is the strongest snowfall recorded since observations began in 1907.

Heavy precipitation has affected not only Seoul but also other regions of the country. In some areas, the snow cover has reached 23 cm.

The bad weather has significantly complicated transportation. 220 flights were canceled at airports, and ferry operations were suspended. Traffic jams formed on the roads, especially in Seoul, and trains were delayed on the subway lines.

The President of South Korea has ordered all possible resources to be mobilized to address the consequences of the snowfall. Authorities also advise citizens to be cautious on the roads, as the snowfall is expected to continue until Thursday, November 28.
