Aidan O’Brien confirmed: the magnificent mare Lake Victoria is returning to the track.
The Return of Lake Victoria
According to The Sun: AIDAN O’BRIEN has confirmed that the 'extraordinary' mare Lake Victoria is preparing to return to competitive racing - and it could be a real spectacle.
The well-known Irish three-year-old, who won the 1,000 Guineas, has not appeared on the track since May after her victory at Curragh.
GettyThere were fears she might retire due to injury. However, Ballydoyle trainer Aidan O’Brien told the Nick Luck Daily podcast that Lake Victoria is gradually recovering and plans to compete as a four-year-old in 2026.
“She is ready to return,” O’Brien said.
He also emphasized that all team members are optimistic about her return and want her to continue training next year.
“We will conduct all the tests to ensure everything is fine with her,” he stressed.
O’Brien also shared information about Twain, who won his debut race at Leopardstown in October last year and then succeeded in Group 1, winning at the Criterium de Saint-Cloud.
Although Twain has not appeared on the track due to another injury, the trainer assured that he has a bright future.
“Twain is in good shape and is returning to training,” O’Brien added.
Lake Victoria remained unbeaten until this year's 1,000 Guineas, where she finished sixth, losing to the flower Desert Flower from Godolphin.
After that, she won again at Curragh, which led O’Brien to appreciate her achievements. He said:
“We thought she showed an amazing race in tough conditions at Newmarket.”The return of Lake Victoria is generating great interest among horse racing enthusiasts. Her return could be a significant event in the upcoming season, as the mare has already proven her skills in competition. As long as her career continues, fans are waiting for new victories and spectacular performances.
