Kent cricketers collided on the running track: details of a rare incident.
Unpleasant incident at the match
According to The Sun: At the County Championship matches in Kent, an unpleasant incident occurred: two players collided, resulting in both falling to the ground, but the umpires decided not to send them off — the ball had already been deemed 'dead' at that moment.

Muchehiwa managed to finish his run before falling
Details of the incident
Compton and Muchehiwa began the second run after Muchehiwa hit the ball to the side. Initially, they earned one run, but in haste did not notice each other.
The players collided at the halfway line without having time to start braking. Compton suffered the most significant injury: he fell to the ground, and Muchehiwa tripped over him while attempting to keep his feet, but also fell after completing the run.
At that moment, player Tom Hartley managed to gather the ball and broke a window, however, the incident was deemed a single run for the Kent team, as the game was paused due to the collision in accordance with the competition's concussion protocol.
“If a player or umpire suffers a head injury or suspects a concussion, play in this match is immediately stopped, and a medical professional is summoned to the field for an initial assessment according to ECB concussion rules.”
The game was halted for about 10 minutes while both players were given medical assistance and underwent concussion tests before they were allowed to continue playing.
Match results
Soon after the incident, Muchehiwa was out of the game on 48 runs, while his partner was caught out at 77 runs. The Kent team totaled their score to 293, after which Lancashire began their innings with 19 runs without loss before the end of the day.
This incident highlights how important it is to care for the safety of athletes during competitions. Although both players were able to return to the game, such situations are always reminders of the risks involved in sports. Moving forward, it is important to continue implementing safety protocols to minimize danger on the field.Read also
