Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces Strike Cossack 'Terek' Base in Luhansk Region.
Operation on June 7, 2023
According to UATV: On June 7, 2023, units from the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems Forces executed strikes against Russian occupation troops' military and logistics facilities. A primary target was the temporary deployment site of the 5th Cossack Reconnaissance-Assault Brigade 'Terek', located near the city of Shchastia in the Luhansk region. This site was situated roughly 100 kilometers from the front line of combat.
The operation resulted in the destruction of:
- the brigade's headquarters
- a medical station
- rear-area facilities
- ammunition depots
According to military expert Robert 'Madyar' Brovdi, 'the attack destroyed the brigade's headquarters, a medical station, rear-area facilities, and warehouses storing ammunition, fuel, lubricants, and other supplies.'
Additionally, six electrical substations, ten communication towers, locomotives, and fuel tankers were damaged.
Further Strikes Overnight
Later that same night, on June 7, a Ukrainian drone also struck a bridge near the Chongar area. These attacks are part of ongoing Ukrainian efforts against Russian occupation forces, aimed at dismantling their infrastructure and reducing their combat capabilities.
The strikes carried out by Ukrainian forces highlight the increased use of drone technology in military operations, which is becoming a key element of the strategy to counter occupation troops. Destroying critical assets like headquarters and supply depots can impact the enemy's combat readiness and logistics. The continuation of such attacks may signal Ukraine's intent to strengthen its position in the conflict and diminish the adversary's ability to conduct operations in the region.
